Summary

WINTER MOUNTAIN LEADER consolidation period 2023 to .....

Over the years I have participated in Winter Courses through PYB, Chris Ensoll and International Guiding Companies. PyB was with Dave Evans where we trained for 2 days on the side of Moel Siabod. The course content covered self-arrest, anchors, belays, cutting edges with boots and axe, use of touring axe, avalanche warning and where to find info - a well rounded course syllabus. The course with Chris Ensoll (again for 2 days) was a slightly higher level of steep ground ascent with crampons, walking with rope lengths, setting up belays, rock climbing and abseiling, anchors, use of touring axe and hand transfer of axe on ascending / descending ground, and Axe storage under rucksack strap for quick access. International Winter Training - has covered Steep ascent with Ice Axes, Glacier crossing, Glacier self rescue, understanding and walking as a team.

For me Mountain Leading is a chance to be away from the day-to-day madness of life and to enjoy those moments with like minded people. I love to meet new people and see different parts of the country and have new experiences in life. My next goal is to become a Winter Mountain Leader - this will be so I can extend my voluntary work for charities which I am already involved with on my Summer Mountain Leading.
