I am now 52 of age and I have spent many hours and days in the mountains of Britain and Europe as well as climbing in the USA.
I started out Potholing at 17 with friends and then started to climb a little. I moved to North Yorkshire where I became addicted to climbing and the mountains. I met some local climbers and my first real trip was to the Lakes and Gimmer Crag in 1989.
I wanted to learn more about mountain craft and i attended a BMC winter mountaineering craft training weekend shortly after.
I spent every weekend and a couple of weekdays climbing and achieved grades of E5&6 and F7c+ at my hight.
I also got into Fell running and have competed in the Langdale and Borowdale races 3 times as well as many others. I have also completed 4 Original Mountain Marathons at 'A' & 'B' class and have entered this years in the Long Score category. I have also Completed 2 IronMan Triathlons including the Norsman Extreme Triathlon; toughest Ironman Distance triathlon in the world.
I have also Climbed the Bonatti pillar, American Direct on the Dru as well as many routes on the Plan and Mont Blanc Du Taco and all over the alps. I have also climbed the Troll wall via the Swedish sought and other mulipitch routes around Trollhime.
I have also climbed in North Wales and Pembroke as well as the crags of Scotland extensively. Winter mountaineering and Alpinism is now my main love but still enjoy the days out in the Hills and Dales with my wife and friends.
I have also Cragged all over Europe and have been to most of the sports climbing areas in France and Spain but my main love is Trad climbing in the Peak and Dales as well as all the areas of Britain.
I have gained my SPA and have taken Groups out on many occasions to local crags and climbing walls.
I am a lecturer in the out doors at and have a MA in Sports coaching. I am working towards a Doctorate in conditioning for extreme adventure activities, mainly around mountaineering and alpinism.
