My previous experience in the outdoors extends past the information given in my DLOG. Prior to undertaking my SPA and ML awards I have spent the last 5/6 years climbing, scrambling, and mountain walking in the UK and Europe. Unfortunately, I failed to formally record these experiences but I estimate that these experiences extends to at least 50 QMD's and numerous single and multipitch climbs.
Furthermore, during my time as an outdoor instructor at Bowles Rocks outdoor centre, I undertook and completed my SSLA (Southern Sandstone Leaders Award). This award encompasses all elements of climbing on Southern Sandstone safely including different setup methods, belaying and rock conservation. With this qualification I successfully ran over 50 half day rock climbing sessions on the Bowles Rocks crag.
Outside the syllabus of any of the Mountain Training qualifications, I have spend a large amount of time ski instructing in both the Northern and Southern hemisphere, and I currently hold the NZSIA Level 2 ski instructors qualification and my current teaching experience currently extends past 500hrs. Whilst not directly related, I believe it gives me transferable experience working with groups of all ages within the outdoor environment. Furthermore, I am American Avalanche Association Level 1 qualified and comfortable skiing both on and off-piste.
