I began my walking 'career' when I was about 4 years old. My parents are keen walkers and we went walking in Derbyshire, Peak District or the Lakes every weekend. We did 200 miles of the Pennine Way when I was 6 and completed the remainder the following year. We began the Coast to Coast walk the year afterwards but had to abandon it at Shap due to my mother hurting her ankle. After a break of about 5 years in my teens I returned to fell walking in Derbyshire, the Peak District, Scotland, Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire Moors and the Lake District in my 20's. I walked with and then led a works' rambling club and then walked with people of varying map-reading abilities until around 2007. Due to injury I had to leave it for a while but began fell walking again circa 2009 and walked once or twice a month in the Lakes or Scottish Borders, mostly solo but sometimes in a group or with friends or family. I have recently moved near to Cockermouth and have a dog so we go out into the Lakes at least twice a week. I also like to go out on my own onto the higher mountains at least a couple of times a month. I love photography, particularly landscape photography. I have not logged all of my walks as I cannot remember the actual dates. I have completed almost all of the Northern and Eastern Fells in the Lake District. I also hold a Silver National Navigation Award. I enjoy looking at the wildlife and various flowers/plants whilst I am out, I know many of the bird species but plants and trees I find harder to remember the names!
