Mt KENYA-SIRIMON ROUTE

Day 1: Walk from Sirimon Gate to Old Moses Camp
Distance walked: 9kms
Walk: 5 and a half hours
Altitude: 3400m
Altitude gain: 400m

Day 2: Walk from Old Moses Camp to Leaky North camp site
Distance walked:
Walk: 6 and a half hours
Altitude: 3993m
Altitude gain: 600m

Day 3: Walk to Shiptons hut, but a young boy began feeling ill, so after monitoring him it was clear signs of altitude sickness, dizzy, feeling like he wanted to be sick and headache. We then used the main Shiptons train down Makinder valley and returned to Old Moses (3400) the boy felt strong again and was eating well. We camped the night there and awaited the rest of the school to return the following day. (10kms in total were walked)

Day 4: After the rest of the group arrived at Old Moses we continued the final 9kms back to Sirimon gate, where we were all collected.
