International Mountain Leader
I was first introduced to Schaniela Wright in the Autumn of 2016, while working alongside her in an Expedition Leadership role on Mt Kenya. Schaniela quickly proved to be a competent and able mountaineer, with great confidence and knowledge. Schaniela is a enthusiastic and passionate about pursuing a long-term career in the outdoors. Schaniela has a keenness to excel and better herself; She has recently begun working on the Instructor Development Scheme at Glenmore Lodge, wishing now to move into the next tier of awards, allowing her to work at the highest level in the UK and overseas. Schaniela has been fortunate enough to work with many groups overseas and operates comfortably at altitude. Schaniela now wishes to begin her journey to complete the International Mountain Leader Award. I am fully confident that she is ready for this next stage in her development and I look forward to hearing of her achievements throughout the scheme. Alexander Kay.

International Mountain Leader
I first met Schaniela when she attended the Mountain Leader Training at Plas Y Brenin on which I was a trainer. She was an excellent addition to the group, asking probing questions, showing exceptional leadership and using her experience of international mountaineering and trekking to apply to a British hillwalking context. I have since spent time with her rock climbing and winter walking, including a traverse of An Teallach in winter 2018. Schaniela was a solid, capable and welcome addition to the team, continuing to ask questions about how to manage different sections of the traverse with less confident peers. I have recommended her to colleagues for work in the outdoors. The Glenmore Lodge Instructor Development Scheme will catapault her career and I have no hesitation in recommending her for the IML.

International Mountain Leader
Schaniela and I first met each other 2 years ago, when she was a student of mine, on an outdoor instructor training programme. It was obvious to me, from the beginning, that Schaniela is completely focussed on a career in the outdoor industry, at the highest possible level. I was very impressed with her professionalism and approach in all that she did. Being thoroughly committed and passionate about climbing and mountaineering she has steadily worked at gaining several Mountain Training awards and has worked hard to further her experience of being in the mountains, both here, in the UK, and abroad. Not only has she been searching out some of the best mountaineering challenges the UK has to offer, such as a winter traverse of An Teallach, but she has also been assisting mountain guides in her native Africa with taking clients to the highest summits. Recently, Schaniela has begun working at Glenmore Lodge. Working in such an environment will be of huge advantage to her, as she will be around qualified MICs, IMLs and Mountain Guides, and be able to expand her personal skills and technical knowledge. Schaniela has many of the attributes required of an International Mountain Leader and is thoroughly committed to achieving this qualification. I am certain that she will be successful in her ambition and will be an excellent International Mountain Leader.

Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor
Ella is a super keen and motivated climber, who has loads of enthusiasm for all things climbing. Her passion for climbing and the outdoors is infectious. I have spent many days winter climbing and dry-tooling with Ella, she's a very capable climber, trustworthy partner and always provides some great chat! I have no doubt that Ella will make a brilliant MCI.

Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor
Ella and I have been friends and climbing partners for a number of years, particularly during the winter months when I am based in Scotland. She is extremely competent in all aspects of the hills - not only in the climbing itself, but also getting to and from routes, planning the days and making the right decisions; she is a wonderfully trustworthy and reliably level headed climbing partner. Ella has a seemingly endless amount of psyche and enthusiasm for the hills and I have no doubt that she passes this on to clients as well as friends. Ella would be a fantastic MCI, and I know she is looking towards working as a WMCI in the future. This is an exciting prospect as I think she will excel through these qualifications - and gives us a great excuse to get out climbing more than ever!

Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor
I first winter climbed with Ella 4 years ago. It was obvious right away that her big picture awareness while being in the winter mountain enviroment was very switched on with a climbing ability to match. Over the years we have climbed together in all manner of disciplines, hard Scottish winter first accents and established lines, mountain trad, sport, long alpine route, and classic alpine 4000m summit routes. We have also worked together in the UK mountains in both summer and winter. Across all of this Ella has displayed a level head, with the drive to achieve whatever she sets her mind to, too the highest standard she can reach. Within work she goes above and beyond to ensure that clients have a memorable and inspiring experience. I believe ella would be a fantastic fit for the WMCI scheme and look forward to working with her in the future.
