Description

14.30 - 19.30, 19km, 750m.
Clear sunny day, cold wind, frozen ground. Ashness Bridge, Walla Crag, Bleaberry Fell, High Seat, High Tove, Armboth Fell (479), Middle Crag, Brimming Knot, Black Waugh, Great Crag, Brund Fell, Watendlath, Ashness Bridge. A later start than planned thanks to the M6 being closed between J35 and J36! A long day, much of it on rough terrain with no paths. Finished in the dark by headtorch. Thankfully with the frozen ground the bogs and mires were simple fare!. Stayed at the Skelgill camping barn.

Area : Central Fells

The Vale of Keswick, provides separation from the Northern Fells whilst to the west runs the long valley of Borrowdale. The parallel eastern boundary is created by Thirlmere and the St Johns in the Vale. Grasmere to Windermere forms the remainder of the eastern boundary. In the west, Stake Pass descends into Great Langdale.
