Description

11.15 - 18.00, 14km, 1100m.
Cloud base 800m, moderate winds, strong on tops and cols. Freezing above 500m. Layby A85 GR460277, ruin in field to track through wood, ridge of Sron nam Forsalrean, Ben More, Bealach eader dha Beinn, Coire Chaorach, and retrace steps through woods back to car. A hard day with some slab, had to be careful picking a way around avalanche prone slopes. Two meters of rime ice on trig point. Had wanted to do the full round but ran out of time. Glad to get out of the upper corrie with slab laden slopes on most sides.

Area : Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)

Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
