Description

10.00 - 17.00, 11.5km, 840m. Coniston, Lake District.
Sunny start, later cloud base 750m, strong winds. Adrian and I. Coniston, Levers Water, Swirl Hawse, Swirl How, Grey Friar, Levers Hawse, Levers Water, Coniston. Part of a week with the Dixon clan before Christmas, Neil had bust his ankle sledging beforehand! A grey start with lots of fresh snow, with the sun breaking through at Levers Water about 11.15am. Cloud rolled in about 1.30pm so finding Grey Friar in the grey and white was fun. Got the ‘bothy’ out for lunch and to get out of the strong westerly winds at 2.00pm. Had to be careful dropping to Levers Water due to the slab building up.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

From the Esk Valley all the way across to Kendal and the M6. Includes Coniston area as far north as Little Langdale, Wrynose and Hardknott Pass.
