Description

Parked in a layby on the A9 and ascended the hill track that climbs south east onto the plateau between Carn na Caim and A`Bhuidheanach. Headed towards Carn na Caim first. Low visibilty and falling snow with thigh deep drifts made progress difficult. Once at the summit of Carn na Caim I headed south towards A`Bhuidheanach. Managed to spot the occasional top of the fence posts which aided nav in bad vis. From the 2nd summit, realised I had loads of day time left, so decended to the A9 and did Geal Charn on the west side of the a9 road. a large party was ahead of me so i followed their footsteps to the top. low vis till late afternoon, no wind.

Area : Loch Rannoch to Newtonmore (Beinn Udlamain)

This area is listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The Drumochter Hills) and covers the hills and mountains between Loch Rannoch and Newtonmore. Loch Ericht forms the western boundary and Glen Tromie the eastern boundary, with the Pass of Drumochter (the A9 and the Highland Main Line) dividing the area in two. Among the seven Munros in this area, only one is over 1000m (Beinn Udlamain is 1011m).
