Description

90 min ascent to Col de Salentin and passed quickly through as cloudy and windy.
Descended into a very Welsh valley, including sheep and heavy cloud and rain.
Stopped at private chalets kept open for public use and took shelter for early lunch.
Continued on in pouring rain, climbing to Refuge de Moelle Anterne.
Stopped here for hot choc and decision making.
By 1300 we were back out and it was dry for a spell as we descended the lush valley to Pont Arlevé, at which point it recommenced heavy rain.
900m climb to Brevents went well. It cleared as times, revealing some views into the Gorge de Diocaz.
Atmospheric passage through to col de Brevent, past huge boulders, and snow banks, all shrouded in cloud. Funnily enough we had it to ourselves.
A few ladders to negociate before popping out at Brevent where it momentarily cleared and we went to the summit platform for the views.
45 min descent/traverse to Ref de Bel Achat, nicely positioned above Chamonix Valley
