10km, 950m. Idwal, North Wales.
Cloud base 850m, steady rain in afternoon. Supervising a Gold DofE group.
Idwal car park, Devils Kitchen, Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach, Miner`s Track to Pen-y-Gwryd Hotel. The group camped up behind the hotel instead of Llyn Cwmffynnon as planned. Despite the weather I enjoyed the day with the DofE assessor and a biology teacher who was great on the plant identification. Went to Llanrwst in the evening for a very good curry and caught up with Richard Cooper as well.

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
