Description

Day 3 AQ Winter Skills.
Parked near Affric Lodge and headed up to Loch Lapaich.
Hard going in soft snow and over bumpy badlands to reach the NW ridge.
Did a skills session here: snowpack analysis and crampon use.
Ascended the ridge. Dan and Stevo well outside their comfort zones.
Weather cleared just as we summited and spirits were high. Enjoyed time on top and taught on rime ice and scouring.
Enjoyable descent with some skiing and sliding.

Area : Glen Affric and Kintail

South of Loch Mullardoch you will find the Glen Affric and Kintail area whose southern boundary is the A87 road to Inverness. The Five Sisters of Kintail, Beinn Fhada, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and Carn Eighe are just some of the impressive peaks in this area, and all have their own unique selling points such as remoteness, size, steepness or height. As a result, peaks in the list are all over 900m.
