2 corbetts today, very icy on the walk in from the Invercauld car park. Ankle deep snow from about 500m upwards, it felt like a very long walk in!! From about 700m, enough snow to loose the track, so we headed direct to culardoch following scoured areas of snow. Heavy gusts at times and lots of drifting. From Culardoch summit, we headed west to bag both summits of Carn Liath. From the Summit, headed south and south east to catch the track and head back to the car.
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
