Description

Headed up next to Allt Coulavie, a particularly stunning Allt. The scene put me strongly in mind of Nepal: the sound of the water close by and running steeply between and among rock, the bluebird day, white mountains.
Hard going in the snowline with accumulations of granular snow below crags.
Led Simon up a cragging climbing section while Bruno took Shane and Tam around an easier way.
For Simon this focus was the turning point in his day.
Amazing scene in the high valley, beautifully sculpted by wind blown snow. Some significant cornice initiated avalanches on NE aspects.
Covered self-belay and self-arrest. This was particularly interesting/challenging in terms of working around Tam`s shattered and Shane`s spasticity.
Moved onto harder snow for crampon work.

Area : Glen Affric and Kintail

South of Loch Mullardoch you will find the Glen Affric and Kintail area whose southern boundary is the A87 road to Inverness. The Five Sisters of Kintail, Beinn Fhada, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and Carn Eighe are just some of the impressive peaks in this area, and all have their own unique selling points such as remoteness, size, steepness or height. As a result, peaks in the list are all over 900m.
