The weekend was arranged by Stu B and was a mixed group 9 people. We stayed in a local cottage and the group chose to attempt Snowdon 1085m on the first day.
On checking the weather I briefed the team that we would use the Miners track as this would offer the greatest protection from the wind and that we probably would not summit.
The lower ground was largely clear of snow with patches of hard snow where water crossed the track. The group had no axe or crampons so these patches were carefully managed by Stu and I. I noticed around 10 people attempting Crib Goch. We kept an eye on them, somehow all managed to cross without joining us on the Miners track via the quick route.
At the point where the Miners and Pyg track meet some of the group decided they wanted to descend which I thought was a good idea so I led 4 of them down via the Pyg track, Stu continued on with the rest up to the zig zags and the descended.
We then enjoyed a pint in the Pen Y Gwryd before heading back to the cottage.
