Day 1: Grasmere to Stonethwaite via Helm crag (405m) and Calf Crag (537m) . Pub Closed. Wild Camped. Nav`d from Calf crag (537m) all the way down to Stonethwaite in the dark. There is a big cliff, that I didn`t notice on the map....didn`t walk off it, will remember that one! Missed meet up with parents as they changed sites (we didn`t know this due to lack of signal.
Day 2: Stonethwaite, Green Gable (801m), Great Gable (899m) - Parents changed plans and went over Glaramara (as mum`s rucksack was hurting her and they wanted a shorter route). Went round back of Kirk Fell and down Black Sail Pass. Camped at head of valley, paddled/washed in stream. Missed main course at Wasdale Head - got Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Sandwich and beer!
Day 3: Rucksack split. Sewed it back together in Wasdale Head using dental floss. Left at 3pm. Summited Scafell Pike (978m) at 6:15pm. Powerwalked over Broad crag (934m) Esk Hause, Rossett Gill, Cumbria Way and got down to ODG Landgale for Steak, Chips & Beer at 8:20pm. Finally met up with Parents. Parents camped at Langdale. We walked up to Stickle Gill and wild camped at Stickle Tarn.
Day 4: Parents walked up to Stickle Tarn. Wish I`d brought more tea to sell to people at the top. Walked WITH parents to Easedale Tarn and back to Grasmere.
Hot weather, shorts and Tshirt throughout. Even sat outside at ODG in shorts, tshirt and fleece.
Area :
Western Fells
The Western Fells form the southern wall of the Buttermere valley and the northern fence of Wasdale. Between the two lies Ennerdale so that in effect the group is the shape of a single horseshoe, each branch about 10 miles in length.
At the head of Ennerdale stands Great Gable. The southern arc of the group travels due west from Great Gable, the main ridge consisting of Kirk Fell, Pillar, Scoat Fell, Haycock and Caw Fell.
