The plan today was for me to take friend Leigh up Moel Siabod (his first ascent) via the Daerr Ddu ridge. It was a hot day but we got a good move on. coming to the top llyn, we were about to stop to fill up the water bottles prior to tackling the ridge, when Leigh spotted a rock face he wanted to climb. I told him it wasn't a good idea and that although we had plenty of time left in the day, getting hurt doing this would not help us. Unfortunately Leigh decided to continue the climb, and subsequently slipped and fell approximately 4 metres onto his leg and hip / back.
Although able to eventually walk off the mountain to the nearest road where I could get the car to him. Leigh sustained several fractures to his heel and back.
He refused to let me get medical help from outside agencies so we 'toughed' it out and drove home. Once home Leigh called 111 who sent out an ambulance for him and took over care from me.
Some good lessons learnt - I should not have accepted Leigh's decision to not call for any help. We were properly equipped for a long stay on the mountain so this wouldn't have been an issue.

Moelwynion
The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
