Description

Teaching navigation to 2 scout leaders looking to gain adventurous activity permits. We walked in via the track to devoke water in eskdale and spent the rest of the day off the beaten track, summiting rough crag, water crag and woodend height. the focus was on using a compass to identify small features and travel across featureless areas of ground with confidence.
On they way back to devoke water we ran into a gold dofe group that were being supervised by another member of the team in the lake district. One participant had become ill and we escorted her off the hill.

Area : Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)

The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
