Dalmunzie Hotel (08.45) to Glenlochsie Lodge ruins (09.25) by bike. I then pushed the bike to the summit of Glas Tulaichean (11.05). I had hoped to cycle up some of the ridge but the combination of the wind, the rough state of the track and my lack of cycling fitness meant I didn't. Got to the top had a bite to eat before cycling all the way down; needed a couple of stops to let the legs and arms relax. Had a lovely chat with two ladies who had run up and I met again on the way down. They were training for the Glen Coe Marathon and moving at a good lick. Probably the one and only time I'll bike down a Munro, there aren't many with a 'landrover' track to the top.
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
