Description

It was an exceptionally hot day when we did this walk, which I organised for my Meetup group. There were nine of us. Although I had walked with all the participants before, there were three people whose fitness I was concerned about in the hot weather, one in particular. For this reason I went at a slower pace than normal, took frequent short breaks, and took a lengthy break at 550m, even though it was only about 11am. Despite this, the person I was most concerned about, who is a very experienced walker, but whose fitness has unfortunately declined, decided not to continue the walk. He was happy to return on his own.
The rest of us reached the summit and enjoyed the walk, however on the way back, a walker who is usually very fit, but who hadn't done much walking over the winter, suddenly fell about 3ft down an embankment into a small river. He was a bit bruised and shaken, but unhurt. We were all quite shocked at this, and I felt concerned that I was maybe going a bit fast on the way back down, as it was a long way back. I took it as a warning to myself not to go so fast that some people might have a problem keeping up and might trip. I apologised for this to the person who fell.
Route-finding was quite tricky on this walk, as the path meanders over boggy moorland, however we managed to stay on course.

Area : Glen Lyon to Glen Dochart & Loch Tay (Ben Lawers)

This area covers the peaks to the north and east of Crianlarich. Glen Lyon forms the northern boundary while the road from Crianlarich to Aberfeldy is the southern boundary. The Ben Lawers group in the east of this area includes seven separate peaks, all Munros, which are part of an impressive 12km ridge line. The western side of this area is generally lower and not as steep but does still home some a number of Munros. All major peaks above 600m are included in the mountains list. The area to the north is Loch Rannoch to Glen Lyon.
