Description

I was the Lead person for this ascent of Snowdon and a gully called Central Trinity. We were kitted out with Winter Gear and clothing. This was a first Ascent of Central Trinity. Central Trinity is a Grade 1 winter climb, however grades can change depending upon the conditions and the situation, with an interesting middle section where a we had to climb an ice block (over a rock) this is the main crux of the climb. On exiting the gully we came right out at the bottom of the steps leading up to the summit of Yr Wyddfa - far nicer in the winter when there are no one around. Our ascent was via the Pyg Trail followed by Miners Trail for our descent. We had parked in our normal spot near Pen - y - Gwryd Hotel. Another great day in the mountains
Equipment carried - full winter gear - axes, crampons, rope, etc. We also practised for 1/2 hour with ice axe arrest before ascending the gully to keep on top of this technique.
