Description

I headed out from the National Trust car park at Seatoller and headed through Johnny Wood, along the riverside path which negotiates a short but slightly tricky section over some rocky outcrops before arriving at Borrowdale YHA. From here I continued along the Allerdale Ramble beside the River Derwent to High Hows Wood. Here, I came across some frog spawn in a small puddle. I continued through the mixed woodland to Low Hows Wood. At NY251166 I headed uphill via Broadslack Gill to Castle Crag. The weather was fine and getting quite warm by this time, and a pleasant breeze blew as I headed along the Allerdale Ramble footpath below High Spy and High Scawdel. At NY244143 I continued to follow the Allerdale Ramble down the hill to Seatoller, being careful not to frighten the sheep as I passed through the field.
