Description

A somewhat rainy walk to begin with and quite cold too, I set off from Keswick launch and followed the lakeshore to Kettlewell Car Park, noting the many varieties of trees along this route. Despite the cloudy conditions, Catbells still looked a lovely glowing orange. Once I arrived at the car park, I followed a permissive path which winded through moss covered trees to Lodore Bridge. From here, the path continued South along the road before turning Westwards through a gate, and along duck boards through marshland. Crossing the Chinese Bridge past Great Bay, I followed the lakeside path once more (also the Cumbria Way) and headed North towards Keswick. This is where an episode of Star Wars was filmed recently too! The clouds began to clear at this point and it was a pleasant, easy walk along the lakeshore to Silver Hill and Fawe Park. There was a slightly confusing moment when I arrived at a road junction at Fawe Park, but I soon realised where I needed to go and had no trouble heading on to Portinscale, then NE to Stormwater Bridge. Then it was a walk into Keswick and returning to the car having first explored this jewel of a town.
