Gelder Shiel Stable Bothy to Callater Stable Bothy via Lochnagar - Cac Carn Beag and peaks between. Clear visibility on accent with continuous, hard, snow-line at 900m requiring crampons from 950m with visibility reducing to 20m. Rime ice forming from previous days on NW facing rocks from 1085m wind direction today of SW.. Summited Cac Carn Beag at 09:20 then used dead-reckoning to navigate between the peaks Westward before decending to Loch Callater after Càrn an t-Sagairt Mòr. Total distance 19.58km in 09:12hrs.

Listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The East Mounth: Glen Shee to Mount Keen’, this area includes all of the peaks to the south and east of the A93. Still part of the Cairngorms National Park, these mountains are home to the north facing crags on Lochnagar (1155m) and the most easterly Munro, Mount Keen (939m).
