Due to storm force winds in the forecast we opted for a route in the Monadhliath in the hope of some shelter from the higher peaks of the Cairngorms. This proved to be a good decision as carnage ensued over on the plateau we had a pleasant day out!
Route ran from car park below Allt a Chaorainn to Glenballoch. We followed the bulldozed track NW to the burn between Creag nan Abhag and Geal Cham. At the head of the burn a bearing was followed in whiteout to the spot height on Gael Charn then another bearing followed to the wee col below A A'Chailleach. Another bearing was followed to the summit cairn mindfully of the steep ground on the eastern side of the summit. Return was via Allt Chaorain with a welcome break in the bothy.
