Start from allanaquoich through Glen Quoich to camp at the flattening below the slopes of Carn Allt na Beinna. Next morning climbed slopes of Allt na Beinna to summit "lump" of Beinn a Bhuird. Stunning views north across the whole plateau and south to Lochnagar. Carried on over North Top to Cnap A Chlierich then to the Sneck. Debated snow conditions on steep E, SE slopes and carried on into cwm. Evidence of avalanche on steeper east facing slopes. Followed Glas Alt Mor to pick up Quoich Water and back down Glen Quoich. A big day out but absolutely brilliant!
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
