Description

A friend asked me to climb this mountain with her, and although I'd climbed it before, it's one of my favourite mountains, so I was happy to do it again. We were very lucky with the weather - it was warm and sunny, and we took our time and enjoyed the day. We took the conventional route up Stob Maol. (Last time I climbed it, we scrambled up the "other" Aonach Eagach ridge.) My friend wanted to do neighbouring Stob a' Choire Odhar too, but it was my birthday and I had to get home for a special birthday dinner. We'll return to do it and the scrambly ridge another time.

Area : Glen Etive to Glen Lochy

This is the area south of Buachaille Etive Mor as far as the A85 (Tyndrum to Oban road). It includes the peaks around the Glencoe Ski Centre (Creise and Meall a’Bhuiridh) alongside eleven other Munros and many other peaks above 600m. Highlights such as Ben Cruachan (1126m) and Stob Ghabhar (1090) remind all-comers that this is an area of high mountains and low glens.
