Description

Once we had packed our tents away we headed to Plas Y Brenin to begin our hike.

Weather conditions were not as good as the previous day - cloud was lower although did not affect navigation. We ascended Daear Ddu ridge - a recent scramble I had completed for the first time a few weeks previous, a grade 1 scramble. All members of the team coped very well with this scramble. We eventually got to the summit of Carnedd Moel Siabod and did the customary hand shakes and hugs. From here we descended the Moel Siabod Ridge heading in a North Easterly direction and eventually back to Plas Y Brenin a shorter route although the whole route took us just over 5 hours.

Lesson Learnt for the day were with gaining experience with Group Management, Navigation Skills.

Area : Moelwynion

The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
