Description

Gentle hill day after work Christmas drinks the previous night. Had injured calf muscle during insanity training and needed to see how it was holding up. Its been a few years since i had climbed these 2 hills and what a joy it was to drive through Glen Clova on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Parked up in the excellent Glen Doll car park. A lovely ascent up through the forest (which has been cut down after the forestry track) as you ascend Shank Drumfollow. Great day with lovely views. Practiced my pacing and timing, as I always do, and enjoyed a chat with a couple on the way down. Calf held up well.

Area : Braemar to Montrose (Lochnagar)

Listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The East Mounth: Glen Shee to Mount Keen’, this area includes all of the peaks to the south and east of the A93. Still part of the Cairngorms National Park, these mountains are home to the north facing crags on Lochnagar (1155m) and the most easterly Munro, Mount Keen (939m).
