Description

The plan was to hike up and bivvy on the summit of Cadair Idris.
After finishing work i started up Cadair Idris , Taking the Minffordd track up past Llyn Cau towards the minor peaks of Craig Lwyd and then on to Mynydd Pencoed before following the horseshoe around to the main peak of Cadair Idris, the wind was now bitingly cold and the thought of spending the night not under canvas did not greatly appeal so after making dinner ( a freeze dried chilli ) i inflated my sleeping mat inside the summit shelter at the summit of cadair Idris.
The weather was appalling overnight and i was joined by a few sheep also escaping the cold wind and rain!
By sunrise the worst of the weather had passed through and after making coffee and porridge i set off back down to the car, taking in Mynydd Moel before finding the track and fence line to follow back to the forest and the car park .

Area : Cadair Idris

Cadair Idris or Cader Idris is a mountain in Gwynedd, Wales, which lies at the southern end of the Snowdonia National Park near the town of Dolgellau. The peak, which is one of the most popular in Wales for walkers and hikers,[1] is composed largely of Ordovician igneous rocks, with classic glacial erosion features such as cwms, moraines, striated rocks, and roches moutonnées.
