Description

Long drive oop North on what was a decent forecast but turned out to be drizzle turning to heavier rain on the hills. Never mind, some good nav practise was had and climbed 3 new hills. Carn Ghluasaid first via some decent stalkers paths then over the highest hill Sgurr nan Conbhairean then out to Sail Chaorain. Practised micro nav over wee bumps and knolls as well as some timing and pacing. On my return to Sgurr Nan Con. I thought I'd be clever and undercut the hill on the west side but turned out to be steep, chossy, grassy slopes and took twice as long at least than it would be to have went over the top again. Regained the ridge leading back to main road soon enough and a plod back along the old military road. Thoroughly soaked but good fun.

Area : Loch Eil To Glen Shiel (Incl Knoydart)

The Great Glen to the east, the A87 to the north and the A830 to the south separate this area from its surroundings and enclose an area of high mountains and low glens. The highest mountain is Sgurr na Ciche (1040m) and further north the South Glen Shiel Ridge is formed by a whopping seven Munros! Also in the area is The Saddle (1010m) which is home to the classic Forcan Ridge. Peaks in the mountains list are all above 900m.
