Soggy-bog-maggedonMy least favourite Munroes so far, Stob Coire Sgriodain did have an interesting summit with some good views. Luckily i did get a decent view as just after reaching the top of the first summit the weather changed and did not relent for the rest of the day.
From the start the going was unrelentingly hard ! very very wet boggy ground, tussocks, slippery rock with broken rough ground under every step for 90% of the route. It rained hard for 3 of the 4 hours I was out, making the visibility very poor and navigation difficult, only in a few areas were there signs of anything resembling a path, the majority of the route pathless and over very difficult ground. Not a route I am going to repeat in a hurry !

Area :
Ben Alder (Loch Treig To Loch Ericht)
Often referred to as the Central Highlands, this area covers the mountains between Loch Treig, Loch Ericht and Loch Laggan. Access is commonly from the A86 or the Corrour Halt stop on the West Highland Railway. An impressive fourteen Munros are scattered across this area (four of which are over 1100m), and included in the mountains list are all of the peaks above 600m. Ben Alder is often thought of as one of the more remote mountains in Scotland and its vast high plateau sits in contrast to the ridge created by Beinn Bheoil. Peaks to the east of Loch Ericht are listed in the East Highlands region.
