Moruisg and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean
A fantastically clear day, making up for the previous few. By far the most challenging part of our journey was within the first ten minutes of the day, negotiating the sheet-ice covered footbridge within 200m of the car. Plain sailing after this. Some very iced bogland to cross, which other than the occasional foot-plant through thin ice was easier than the snow wading which was expected. An arduous ascent to Morusig but rewarded with excellent visibility and views of Liathach, Skye and the surrounding mountains with wonderful light and moody cloud formations. We both wished we had our touring skis as we descended the pristine, perfect, virgin snow on the SW side of the ridge-line, following around to Sgurr nan Ceannaichean. Making good time, we hot-footed up to the now-demoted Munro summit before following its N ridge-line down to the icy bog-land and the still-frozen bridge. A great day out in great company.
Area :
Cuillin and Torridon (Liathach)
This area is on the west coast of Scotland and its most well-known mountains are probably Beinn Eighe (1010m) and Liathach (1055m). The area is bordered by Loch Maree and the A832 to the north and Glen Carron and the A890 to the south. It should not to be confused with The Cuillin which is on Skye and listed in the Western Isles region. The mountains list contains all peaks above 800m.
