Description

As there was a weather window for clear skies in the middle of the night for 29-30 December I decided to jump on a train to Rannoch Moor and camp by Loch Laidon. I arrived in heavy snow and walked along the north shore of Loch Laidon and camped in a sheltered spot in the trees just as the weather was lifting. I woke at 10pm and spent a few hours nightwalking before returning to sleep, waking in the morning to heavy snow and returning to the train.

Area : Glencoe North (Loch Leven To Rannoch Station)

This area covers the northern side of Glen Coe and the mountains north of Rannoch Moor. Notable features include the Pap of Glencoe, the Aonach Eagach ridge (home to a few kilometres of horizontal scrambling) and the remote peak of Stob na Cruiache which is generally accessed from the train station to the east. Includes all major peaks above 600m.
