Description

A Rockhoppers MC trip based at Alltbeithe SYHA to which we backpacked in from the Cluanie Inn, although I was camping outside. As a group of three we walked down to Loch Affric and climbed to Coire Leachavie. It's steep head wall was completely banked up with snow but this was found to be soft and it was easy to kick steps up. We were not carrying winter gear and this was teh only snow that blocked our path on this trip which is why it is not described as winter walking. The remote Beinn Fhionnlaodh was reached over Carn Eige and Mam Sodhail which were bypassed to the west by a traverse on the return. An Socach was included and a descent to the hostel via the Coire na Cloiche path.

Area : Glen Affric and Kintail

South of Loch Mullardoch you will find the Glen Affric and Kintail area whose southern boundary is the A87 road to Inverness. The Five Sisters of Kintail, Beinn Fhada, Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and Carn Eighe are just some of the impressive peaks in this area, and all have their own unique selling points such as remoteness, size, steepness or height. As a result, peaks in the list are all over 900m.
