Description

With 2 winter novices we thought we would see what we could salvage from a poor forecast of high winds and snow flurries. From Kentmere we climbed via the Nan Bield Pass. It was mainly sunny but were hit by the old gusty shower of hail and snow. The snow line was just above the pass and we took a quick look up Mardale Ill Bell. There was no point proceeding further to High Street as we were now in near whiteout conditions and I was the only one with goggles so we turned round and returned over Harter Fell and Kentmere Pike with the worst of the squalls now on our backs.
