Description

start on A9 easy track under electricity pylons which then turns South and up hill to the old Quartzite quarry at Corrie Bhotie. At the col turn north east across the featurless plateau to reach the south summit of Carn na Caim before turning ENE to the broad summit of Carn na Caim. there is a need to retrace steps back to Corrie Bhotie where you head south over the top of A' Bhuidheanach and downhill to a small stream, Alt Coire Chuirn and then up easy slopes if a little featureless to the summit cairn on A'Bhuidheanach Bheag. Return the same way to Corie Bhotie and then the same track back to the A9. The weather conditions and good snow made for an interesting day on what otherwise would have been two uninspiring mountains. Visibility was down to 10m at times in light snow and a moderate wind.

Area : Loch Rannoch to Newtonmore (Beinn Udlamain)

This area is listed in the SMC Munros Guide as ‘The Drumochter Hills) and covers the hills and mountains between Loch Rannoch and Newtonmore. Loch Ericht forms the western boundary and Glen Tromie the eastern boundary, with the Pass of Drumochter (the A9 and the Highland Main Line) dividing the area in two. Among the seven Munros in this area, only one is over 1000m (Beinn Udlamain is 1011m).
