Description

BMC International Meet.
Change of partners, now out with Alan Mordaunt from Ireland. Was keen to get a big classic ticked so off to Tower Ridge and another early start from the lodge.
Ben key helped speed the approach up, got to the base for a reasonable time but still behind another team. Soloed up the Douglas Gap and I kicked us off. Swung leads with Alan up to the Eastern Traverse. I took over here until the top as Alan wasn't super confident but he did fine on the climbing.
Had been poor visibility for the most part but topped out to some glorious weather! Descent down the Red Burn and back to the North Face car park, just in time to hop in another minibus just setting off home for Glenmore.
Climbed with Alan Mordaunt.

Area : Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg

Ben Nevis is certainly the biggest and most famous winter climbing ground in Scotland, with something for everyone from the debutante to the most experienced and skilled. The almost alpine grandeur of the north face can, in a good winter, transform into a world where climbable snow-ice forms at almost every angle. It provides climbs suitable for any stage of the winter, from early season snowed-up rock climbs to late season ice wall specials. Also included here are the small number of winter climbing opportunities on the neighbouring Carn Mor Dearg.
