Description

BMC International Meet.
Another massive drive and big walk in!
Walked to the base for a reasonable time, I started up the first pitch. Got to the first steepening and then pummeled by spindrift. Not much in the way of pro, few more big dumps of spindrift so decided it was probably a sensible decision to bail from the route.
We traversed over to the start of North Gully of A' Chioch instead. Soloed for a bit then I led us up a steepening to the A' Chioch Ridge traverse proper.
On the A' Chioch Traverse we variously pitched and moved together for sections and made good time. Some great views when we got breaks in the cloud. We visited the summit of Beinn Bhan and then made are way down the South East Ridge.
Climbed with Alan Mordaunt.

Area : Northern Highlands South (winter)

Extending from Torridon in the north to Knoydart in the south, and including Glen Shiel, Glen Carron and Applecross, Northern Highlands South includes many brilliant winter climbs of all grades and styles. The quartzite cliffs of Beinn Eighe and the corries of Bheinn Bhan have become forcing grounds for modern mixed climbing, while Liathach nearby offers many fine, steep, traditional ice climbs. New winter climbing possibilities are being discovered on the mountains throughout this area on an annual basis.
