More lockdown adventures. Sunday after sunset we went the highpoint of Fluchter path & saw Mercury at its greatest extension, between a crescent moon & Venus. Monday more astronomy study & a run to Dobbies roundabout, Kelvin Walkway to Balmuildy Bridge & back to cross the Kelvin at the pipe bridge. A new yellow flower - some kind of rape? Tuesday - a longer walk (as now permitted) round all our western approaches - pipe bridge to Balmuildy, N side of Kelvin to Millichen & 'transceiver field', West Millichen to the Antonine Wall, across Douglas Park golf course & a new never to be repeated exit to the Allander, up to Dougalston Golf Course & down to Lady Loch, Dowan Road & home. Highlight was on Lady Loch, 2 Little Grebes feeding a little Little Grebe (aka a dabchick chick) on a floating nest.
We noted in the early season how most of the flowers were yellow but these last weeks we have had blues, whites, reds & more yellows. I guess it must be related to the type of insects out at that time.
Wednesday walk by S side of Kelvin to Cadder Church to meet Fiona & then a circuit of Cawder Golf course & home. Friday with Petra to trig point & chambered cairn.
