First day back on trad and with some friends.
I only personally climbed two routes as three of my friends who are good wall climbers wanted some time to practice with there new shiny rack and ropes.
We spent some time talking about belays and then I led both routes and the guys either seconded behind me or led themselves and I stayed at the top to offer advice or just to give a bit of confidence.
It seemed to work one of the guys was more than happy leading severe and is quite confident to get out with her boyfriend to start leading.
A windy day but dry and successful.
Area :
Gogarth and Anglesey (Holyhead Mountain)
Mostly sea-cliff climbing and mostly quartzite with a few very minor outlying shale outcrops and quarries. The main cliffs and Castell Helen are multipitch, tidal and serious of access and egress. The routes are awesome. Do them you must, with respect due for seasonal restrictions, nesting birds and the seriousness of the situations. If conditions are not suitable for the main cliff there are some very pleasant climbs on Holyhead Mountain. Some lovely little gems can be found further afield at, for instance, Rhoscolyn and Smurf Zawn.
