
"Camp Craft" training course with Woodlore (Ray Mears) Bushcraft School at the Eridge Park Estate south of Royal Tunbridge Wells, East Sussex. Six days of training and 6 nights camping under tarp. Focus of training was on Axe, knife, and saw craft as tools for building a base camp for long term operations. Felled and sectioned trees for larger wood needed for base camp structures. Carved cooking utensils for groups size cooking (rather than individual). Camp cooking, including bread baking. Care of cooking equipment, such as cast iron dutch ovens. Axe and knife sharpening and care. The course tuition included a Granfors Bruk "Small Forest Axe, a Mora Companion HD, and a Crooked knife (Large) for carving spoons, cups, and bowls, and a saw blade. Made bow saw and other camp equipment. Slept out under a tarp for 6 nights. Rained the first night. The rest of the week was dry and hot during the day.
