Description

Taking three students out on the fells for a basic nav day all novices. the weather didnt seem as forecasted with very strong winds poor visibility from around 600m this continued up until are descent via the Beacon and down the valley hand railing Hayeswater and Hayeswater Gill. all in all a day testing both the students nav and my navigation and route finding.

Area : Far Eastern Fells

Reaching their highest point at High Street(828 metres) they occupy a broad area to the east of Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass. Much quieter than the central areas of Lakeland they offer in general easier but less exciting walking as the fells merge mainly into the surrounding moorlands. Exceptions however are the fine rock scenery to be seen surrounding the head of Haweswater
