I started from the road end in Glen Feshie having slept in our converted Citroen Berlingo in the car park. I walked down Glen Feshie and crossed the Allt Garbhlach by using a fallen Scots Pine. The path up from Carnachuin is like a jeep track but at the top it was hard packed snow. At the top of Mullach Clach a Bhlair it was a white out. To return to the track involved starring at the compass and keeping the needle between the two fluorescent strips. I drove over to the car park above Newtonmore ready for the next day's walking.
Area :
The Cairngorms
The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
