Description

Took some old school friends on the traditional loop of Pavey and the Stickles whilst introducing them to some basic navigation concepts. Poor vis made their day challenging and the environment was probably a bit tough for their first intro to maps. Descending some of the steeper ground west of Harrison stickle made for a good learning experience all around. Did a bit of spotting and a lot of coaching, they struggled more than I thought they would.

Area : Central Fells

The Vale of Keswick, provides separation from the Northern Fells whilst to the west runs the long valley of Borrowdale. The parallel eastern boundary is created by Thirlmere and the St Johns in the Vale. Grasmere to Windermere forms the remainder of the eastern boundary. In the west, Stake Pass descends into Great Langdale.
