Description

Today's adventure was Ben A'an. Traditionally pronounced 'Benain'.
Ben A'an is a short, sharp hill. It is commonly known as The Trossach's 'little mountain'. It may have many bigger brothers and sisters in the collection of hills but the short walk up is rewarded by views over both Loch Achray and Loch Katrine and is steep enough to let you know you have put some effort in.
The peak everyone heads for is the more rocky west peak at 454m. The actual peak is east of that at a height of 461 and involves the heather stomp, a form of hill walking and dancing that my lovely wife, Sarah, is not yet a great fan of 🙂
Today I used the Harvey's Ultramap 'Loch Lomond and The Trossachs'
We then finished up with a picnic on the shores of Lake of Monteith
A good day out
