Great day for a walk today.
A mix of on and off path in an area of the Pentlands I hadn't been before.
Parked just north east of Shear Bridge and walked southwest along the road to Crosswood Reservoir, which is inly open to anglers. There is however a path that takes you nicely round the south side of the reservoir.
Then continued in a south east direction walking over Middlemuir which is low ridge separating Bawdy Moss and Crosswood Burn.
From there I headed up Lothian Rigg and then onto my target for the day, Craigengar. At 519m it is not the biggest hill in the Pentlands but getting to the top rewards you with some stunning views in most directions. I say most as wouldn't say the multitude of wind farms add to the view.
After some food and water it was off first to Mealowther, Cairnsmuir and then Torweaving Hill.
FInally following Shear Burn I made it back to the road and then a short walk back to the car.
A lovely day out if you like being of path (which I love). The sky was blue, the air was crisp and the ground was.........boggy 🙂 The gaiters definitely came in useful.
