With M & Janet (88 yr) to Barr Hill & Antonine Wall from Auchinstarry. Went along ridge east to west to allow option of return along canal or of me legging it back for car. Direct approach up ridge to Barr Hill Iron Age Fort proved steep and moral & physical encouragement were both required! Janet paid back by giving us her knowledge of Latin and the Romans. We descended west to Twechar and she managed to get back along the canal unaided but it was far enough. She was very pleased with her achievement & so were we.
