Description

Headed out to Corrie an t Sneachdta in less than good conditions. When we got in we had a chat about where / what we could do, decided on Jacobs ladder. Snow was considerably unconsolidated but moved up and placed nuts in the rock on the side. Cornice on top was not the most pleasant to climb over but gear at top was nice and set up a lovely anchor with 3 pieces of kit. Put the others on guide mode and helped bring them up. From there we headed down to Loch Avon to find the famous Shelterstone which was cool before heading back across and down the windy ridge.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
